Our Path to CO2-Neutrality

The PRETTL group wants to make an effective contribution to a world worth living in and help secure the livelihoods of future generations. For this reason, it is systematically and vigorously driving forward its sustainability goals. In 2020, a voluntary commitment to climate protection was launched with the PRETTL GoZero initiative. This was conceptually developed in cooperation with BOSCH Climate Solutions. PRETTL GoZero describes the group's path to climate neutrality in the four areas of energy efficiency, renewable energies, green electricity and compensation measures.

1 Increase energy efficiency.

2 Use of renewable energy

3 Expand the purchase of "green power".

4 Equalise inevitable CO2 emissions through countervailing measures.

Where do OUR Climate Neutrality Goals come from?

At the end of 2015, 195 countries agreed at the World Climate Conference in Paris to limit average global warming to "well below" 2°C by the end of the century compared to pre-industrial times. When categorizing the CO2 footprint, the classification of emissions into three so-called scopes according to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol is particularly relevant.

The 4 goals of PRETTL GoZero result from the 3 Scopes of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol

SCOPE 1

All directly generated emissions, even through combustion in our own plants and installations.

  • Direct emissions from combustion processes of stationary plants
  • Direct emissions from combustion processes of mobile plants
  • Direct emissions of volatile gases
  • Direct emissions from processes

SCOPE 2

All emissions in connection with purchased energy.

  • Indirect emissions from purchased electricity
  • Indirect emissions from district heating/cooling
  • Indirect emissions from purchased steam

SCOPE 3

All indirect greenhouse gas emissions.

  • Purchased goods and services
  • Means of production fixed assets
  • Fuel and energy-related emissions
  • Upstream transportation and distribution
  • Waste generated on the store floor
  • Employee business travel and commuting
  • Leased items from upstream and downstream value chain
  • Downstream transportation and distribution
  • Further processing of purchased products
  • Use and disposal of sold products
  • Franchise operations and investments

Our Sustainability and Climate Protection Goals

The course for sustainable and climate-friendly production has already been set together with Bosch Climate Solutions 2019

With appropriate measures, we will optimize our sites to become CO2-neutral and resource-saving manufacturing facilities

1 Increase energy efficiency

  • Introduction of a shutdown and shut on concept for machine technology
  • Lighting optimization (e.g. LED, presence detectors, segmentation)
  • Leakage measurement for compressed air infrastructure

2 Use of renewable energy

  • Conception to use roof areas for photovoltaic systems

3 Expand the purchase of "green power"

  • all production sites purchase green electricity

4 Equalise inevitable CO2 Emissions through countervailing measures

  • Green “feel well” areas for employees
  • Green up our company grounds
  • Participation in external CO2 compensation projects
  • Conversion of the vehicle fleet to e-mobility (BEV)
